Admission requirements

Student Membership
You can join the NVA as a student member during your studies. This means you’ll gain access to our member portal, stay informed about developments in your field through our newsletter and the Huang Ti journal, and begin the membership application process early. Since the approval process can take some time, becoming a student member allows you to avoid delays when you're ready to start practicing. You will also receive the Starter’s Guide right away – a practical tool for preparing to set up your own practice!

Admission requirements for Student membership:

  • You are enrolled in an acupuncture training program recognized by the NVA.
  • You have language proficiency in Dutch (NT2) at level B2 or English at level B2 and, are willing to further improve your Dutch within the initial three-year registration period.

From Student to Practicing Member:
As a student member, you already enjoy many of the benefits of NVA membership while working towards becoming a practicing member.
To upgrade your membership, you must have:

  • A diploma in acupuncture from an institution recognized by the NVA
  • A diploma in (para)medical studies from a recognized institi

Practicing membership:
To become a practicing or affiliate member, the following requirements apply:

  • You hold an acupuncture diploma recognized by the NVA.
  • You posses a (para)medical diploma from a recognized institution, or
  • You hold an Medical Basic Knowledge (MBK) diploma recognized by the NVA.
  • You demonstrate language proficiency in Dutch (NT2) at level B2 or English at level B2 and are committed to improving your Dutch further.
  • If your (Para) Medical or CPION-recognized MBK diploma is more than 5 years old, your BIG registration has expired, or your acupuncture diploma is older than 1 year, you will be required to complete a refresher course.
