Neuro-cranial acupuncture
This is a form of acupuncture that has been developed quite recently. During the treatment, needles are only placed on the scalp.
Acupuncture points on the head
Skull acupuncture, like ear acupuncture and the Balance Method, is a form of acupuncture where the entire body is 'projected' onto a part of the body; a micro-system that represents a macro-system. In this case, the micro-system is our head. By stimulating certain zones and acupuncture points located therein, complaints in the entire body can be treated.
How does neuro- and skull acupuncture work?
Your head is a sensitive area. The needles used in skull acupuncture are therefore shorter and thinner than regular acupuncture needles. The needles are also inserted more superficially into your skin than acupuncture needles on your body. The placement of the needles on different parts of your head and how long they should remain in place depend on your complaint.
For neurological disorders and pain syndromes
The other name for skull acupuncture is neuroacupuncture. That name indicates that skull acupuncture can be very helpful for neurological disorders and pain syndromes. Skull acupuncture can also provide good results for psychological complaints, such as depression or anxiety disorders.
