Tai Chi and Qi Gong
You have probably seen it before: people making strange, slow movements alone or in a group. They balance slowly from one leg to the other, sometimes throwing a punch or making a quick turn. Some stand completely still with their arms bent in front of them or move slowly around, as if pushing the air away or pulling it towards them. Here, Tai Chi or Qi Gong is practiced. In parks in China, it is still a familiar sight.
Some acupuncturists teach this or advise you to start taking lessons. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Tai Chi and Qi Gong are ways to nourish, move, harmonize, and better utilize energy (Qi). Both are systems of exercises for health and recovery and promote health into old age. By focusing on breathing and gentle movements, relaxation occurs in the body. This form of relaxation is even better than the relaxation we experience during sleep.
