Acupuncturist according to Professional Profile
Acupuncturist is the one who professionally treats people with physical and/or psychological complaints using (a combination of) needle techniques, moxa techniques, cupping, and specific massage techniques.
The acupuncture treatment can be supported by associated disciplines with exercise therapy, phytotherapy (herbs), Tui-Na, meditation, and advice on dietary and lifestyle patterns.
The Professional Profile was developed in 1995 by the Commission de Wit on behalf of the Executive Board of the NVA. The Commission based this on a model profile developed by the Institute for Curriculum Development SLO. In 2011, a textual adjustment was made due to changed societal terminology. The Professional Profile, together with the Articles of Association and Regulations, is an important guideline for the quality of the NVA acupuncturist.
