Acupuncture effective on many points

About costs and reimbursements

The NVA cannot and may not interfere with determining the rates its members charge for treatments, or suggest a recommended rate. What we can advise is to inquire about the rates of the acupuncturist in advance, so you know where you stand. This can be done, for example, through the acupuncturist's website or by phone before making an appointment.

Member of the umbrella organization KAB
More and more health insurers require affiliation with an umbrella organization to qualify for reimbursement.

All practicing NVA acupuncturists are affiliated with the KAB umbrella organization. They all have a Western medical background and professional training at the HBO level.

PLATO standards
Some health insurers allow you, as an insured person, to inquire with the therapist whether they meet the PLATO standards. All NVA members meet (more than) these standards for medical knowledge. You can trust in that.

Acupuncture is not covered by your own risk.
Various health insurers may have different conditions under which they reimburse a therapist. If you want to be sure whether your acupuncture treatment will be reimbursed, it is best to contact your health insurer.
