About costs and reimbursements
The NVA cannot — and is not allowed to — interfere with the rates that its members charge for treatments, nor can it suggest a recommended rate.
What we do advise is to check the rates of the acupuncturist in advance, so you know what to expect. This can be done, for example, via the acupuncturist’s website or by calling before making an appointment.
Member of the KAB Umbrella Organization
More and more health insurers require therapists to be affiliated with a recognized umbrella organization in order to qualify for reimbursement.
All practicing NVA acupuncturists are affiliated with the KAB umbrella organization. They all have a background in Western medicine and professional training at higher professional education (HBO) level.
PLATO Standards
Some health insurers allow you, as a policyholder, to ask your therapist whether they meet the PLATO standards.
All NVA members meet — or exceed — these standards for medical knowledge. You can trust that.
Acupuncture is not subject to your deductible
Different health insurers may apply different conditions to the reimbursement of treatments.
To be sure whether your acupuncture treatment will be reimbursed, it is best to contact your health insurer.
