Laser acupuncture
Laser acupuncture is a modern application that works according to the same principles as traditional acupuncture. The difference is that laser acupuncture does not use acupuncture needles.
How does laser acupuncture work?
During a treatment, the acupuncture points are stimulated with a soft laser beam. The lasers used are called low-level lasers, or cold lasers. These do not produce heat, unlike the lasers used in conventional medicine, such as in surgery. These high-level lasers are used in medical procedures.
The laser beam in acupuncture is much gentler but can vary in strength and intensity. The acupuncturist adjusts this based on your symptoms. He also determines how long the laser should be on.
When is laser acupuncture used?
Laser acupuncture can be applied to all conditions for which you would visit an acupuncturist. It is particularly useful when acupuncture needles cannot or should not be used. It is a good alternative for people who are afraid of needles but still want acupuncture treatment.
