Acupuncture for babies and children

Did you know that acupuncture is suitable for young and old alike? Because not only adults, but also young children and even babies can benefit greatly from acupuncture treatment.
Their energy system is still pure and fully developing, making it possible to treat many complaints and conditions effectively. Children also respond remarkably well and quickly to this.

Acupuncture for specific complaints, as well as for behavior
Especially the digestive system and immune system of young children sometimes cause complaints. Acupuncture can provide relief or healing for conditions such as chronic colds, eczema, chronic ear infections, allergy symptoms, coughing, diarrhea, asthma, and constipation.
Complaints related to your child's behavior can also be alleviated or significantly improved thanks to acupuncture. Think of fears, bedwetting, poor sleep, lack of self-confidence, poor eating, hyperactivity or nervous behavior, or increased sensitivity. You can read more about this in this article.

How does acupuncture work for children?

For children, an acupuncturist uses extra thin needles that they hardly feel. In the case of very young children, the needles are removed immediately after stimulation, while in older children, they may remain in place for a bit longer. Sometimes the acupuncturist may not use needles at all, but instead massage certain points, possibly using various instruments. This technique is called Shonishin, originating from Japanese acupuncture. Your child can usually remain seated on your lap during the treatment.

The acupuncturist considers the whole child

The acupuncturist takes a holistic approach in treating complaints. To accurately assess the energy imbalances in your child, they will ask questions about your child's eating and sleeping habits, as well as their bowel movements. Furthermore, the treatment is focused on the specific complaint for which you are seeking acupuncture.

Time for you

Every person, and therefore every child, is unique. The acupuncturist takes the time to investigate what is going on and how the complaints can be best addressed. Do you have questions? Contact an acupuncturist and get informed.
