The Professional Training Profile of the NVA requires that a minimum of 64 ECTS Medical Basic Knowledge supplemented with professional support subjects be completed during the training or pre-education.

With 'direct admission' no 'additional requirement NVA' are required, but there may be 'additional requirement ZV' to qualify for reimbursement by health insurers (ZV).

Expansion of admission requirementsFrom June 2018, acupuncturists who have completed or are completing at least a CPION-recognized MBK of 40 ECTS will also be admitted. However, they must take additional WM training during the first registration period of the practicing membership. If this additional WM training is not completed, the membership will be terminated at the end of the first registration period.
