A better night's sleep with acupuncture
Insomnia can significantly disrupt your life: it affects your energy, concentration, and health during the day. Sleep problems can have various causes, such as stress, fatigue, a restless sleep environment, pain complaints, or alcohol use. Whether you have trouble falling asleep, wake up frequently, or get up too early, you are not alone. Fortunately, there are ways to improve your sleep, both through simple adjustments in your daily life and with the support of acupuncture.
Practical Tips for a Better Night's Sleep
There are several practical tips that can help you sleep better. Exercise regularly, avoid caffeine and nicotine in the evening, and ensure relaxation before bedtime, for example, with a short walk or a warm bath. Also, maintain a consistent sleep schedule: go to bed at the same time every day and wake up at the same time.
In addition, the right nutrition can contribute to a better night's sleep. Consider oatmeal (promotes serotonin), yogurt (contains casomorphin), bananas (contain melatonin), or a warm cup of milk with anise (also contains casomorphin). Avoid heavy meals, alcohol, and spicy or fatty foods right before bedtime.
Slogan: Acupuncture – Effective on Many Points
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), insomnia is seen as a disturbance in the balance between yin and yang and the free flow of Qi (life energy) in the body. A peaceful sleep requires sufficient yin - the calming, nourishing force - and a well-grounded Shen (spirit), which, according to TCM, 'resides' in the heart.
If stress, emotions, or physical exhaustion disrupt the harmony, the Shen can become restless, manifesting as difficulty falling asleep, restless dreams, or early waking. By stimulating specific acupuncture points, the acupuncturist helps restore the balance between yin and yang, release Qi flow, and calm the heart. This not only promotes better sleep but also enhances the overall sense of inner peace and resilience.
Find an NVA Acupuncturist Near You
If you are experiencing persistent sleep problems, consider consulting an NVA acupuncturist in your area. By thoroughly examining your symptoms, an acupuncturist can develop a suitable treatment plan for you.

If you can't sleep
Woelen, piekeren, naar het plafond staren en de uren aftellen…herkenbaar? Zonde! Slapeloosheid is bijna altijd goed te behandelen.
