First Dutch Congress on Integrative Oncology: Knowledge, Research, and Collaboration
On September 23, around 190 participants gathered in Amersfoort for the first Dutch congress on Integrative Oncology, organized by CIGZ. A day full of knowledge exchange, research, and networking. Many NVA members were also present.
The NVA was represented by our entire working group on Integrative Medicine: Johanna Biemans, Ilse Thomassen, Yuhsin Chung, Barbara Jenner, Johan van Rooij, and Tineke Oostijen. The NVA contributed as a sponsor to the congress.
Research received ample attention. The Dutch AcuChem study
was presented, which investigates the role acupuncture can play alongside chemotherapy in women with breast cancer. It also looks at neuropathic complaints and quality of life. The NVA is involved as a project partner in the study.
A special moment was the royal distinction awarded to Martine Busch, who was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau for her more than twenty years of dedication to integrative care in the Netherlands.
For the NVA, research, knowledge development, and collaboration between disciplines are important to carefully discuss and further substantiate the role of acupuncture within healthcare.

In pediatrics, the NVA is also focused on knowledge exchange. On October 26, we are organizing a training day on acupuncture in pediatrics together with CIGZ. Registration is now open.
