Menopausal symptoms ... or is it your heart?
21/09/2018
With transitional symptoms, you are in the right place with the acupuncturist.
But there may be something else going on: your heart is giving subtle
symptoms that it may be in trouble.
Two (female!) cardiologists share on Margriet.nl [1] about the rather secretive development of female heart problems. They present a list of symptoms that could be an indication of impending heart issues.
Go to the doctor on time if:
- pain in the upper abdomen, jaw, neck, or back
- pain between the shoulder blades
- shortness of breath
- rapid breathing
- extreme fatigue
- dizziness
- restless or anxious feeling
- poor sleep
- nausea and vomiting
- sudden intense sweating
- a tight or heavy feeling in the chest
- shortness of breath after gentle stair climbing or cycling
Women's Heart is Different from Men's Heart
The women's heart shows in a different way when it is in trouble than the men's heart. Even a small amount of artery calcification can cause serious heart problems, because in women the microvessels get blocked earlier. And they provide up to ninety percent of the heart's oxygen supply. Traditional heart research, which is more based on men, mainly focuses on blockages in the major coronary arteries, which is often not the case in women. And yet, something is seriously wrong.
Influence of Hormones
Especially after menopause, the risk of heart problems multiplies for women, while the symptoms are not easily recognizable or are downplayed. Lifting a bag that is too heavy, wearing a bra that is too tight, it must be nothing. Even doctors often do not recognize the complaints. Hot flashes, night sweats, poor sleep, fatigue, or a restless feeling, oh, isn't menopause over yet?
Be careful, these could also be symptoms of a women's heart in distress.
So, for real menopausal symptoms, go to the acupuncturist, but see a doctor if there are more troubling symptoms that you do not trust!
