Worldwide Candle Lighting Day
Since 1997, World Candle Lighting Day has been held annually on the 2nd Sunday of December. People worldwide come together to commemorate deceased children and light a candle at 7:00 p.m. Due to the different time zones around the world, this creates a wave of light, making the world a little brighter for those who have lost their child. This allows them to realize that they are not alone in their grief. How beautiful that the grief can be seen and shared. Perhaps that makes it a little easier to bear.
Five Elements and the Cycle of Life
One of the concepts that an acupuncturist relies on in their work is the theory of the five elements. The elements Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water influence each other, both nurturing and restraining. Each element is associated with emotions, organs, a season, climate, a sense, taste and color, and a direction in which energy moves. The five elements also represent the cycle of life; after every winter, inevitably, spring follows.
Sorrow, the emotion of the Metal element
Respectively, justice, trust, and sorrow belong to the Metal element, along with the lungs and intestines, autumn, dryness, the sense of smell, sharp taste, and inward-focused energy. The more you contemplate all aspects of the five elements theory, the more insight you gain into how physical and emotional matters influence each other. And how you can help your body and mind return to balance, resolve a blockage, and get moving again.
To the Acupuncturist
An acupuncturist doesn't just magically make your sorrows disappear. He or she can help you find some (breathing) space and relaxation in your body. Guide your energy back on track. In addition to burning candles together in remembrance, sharing the sorrow together, it can help you find more balance again.
Get in touch with an NVA acupuncturist in your area to discuss what they can do for you.
