AGB codes
In order to be eligible for reimbursement by health insurers, you need two types of codes. An AGB code as an acupuncturist, the 'personal' code, and AGB code(s) for each practice where you work, the 'practice code(s)'.
The NVA records your AGB codes in the membership administration and provides them to a number of health insurers through the KAB umbrella organization.
You already have AGB codes
If you are already working in healthcare, you may already have AGB codes. You can look this up on the Vektis website.
However, you need separate codes for your work as an acupuncturist.
When to Apply for AGB Codes Upon confirmation of NVA membership, you will receive a membership certificate, which you can use to request AGB codes from Vektis. You will also need proof of registration with the Chamber of Commerce (step 3) and in the National Register of Care Providers (LRZa), which you will receive from the government after step 4. The issuance of the codes by Vektis takes approximately one and a half weeks. However, the registration date with the NVA is the starting date for reimbursement of your treatments.
Personal AGB Code
When arranging your personal code, Vektis requests proof of membership from the professional association for which you want to register.
As a therapist/acupuncturist, you fall under category code 90; if you are a doctor/acupuncturist, then this is code 84. If you apply multiple complementary therapies in practice, you only need one personal AGB code 90. In that case, choose your primary treatment method as the subcode, for example, 9003 for acupuncture.
Health insurers do not assess your quality based on the AGB code, but on the basis of your NVA membership. The NVA continues to urge Vektis for a better definition of our profession and remains attentive to developments at Vektis.
Practice AGB code(s)
To request your practice code(s), you need proof of registration with the Chamber of Commerce (CoC) and with the LRZa. If you do not have a CoC registration yet and you plan to start working as a practicing acupuncturist soon, arrange this as soon as possible. Please note that the contact details at the CoC must match the contact details on your 'Practice Form' from the NVA. The same details must also appear on your invoices. You should also include the CoC number on your letterhead, invoices, website, etc..

Updating Personal Information
It is important that you notify the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) and Vektis of any changes to your information (practice relocation, new practice). If your details do not match with both agencies, health insurers may reject patient claims.
Since your practice information is listed on our website, it is also important to inform the NVA of any changes (including your home address).
