Some calculation examples
In addition to the continuing education program for admission, you must also meet the regular continuing education requirement. The continuing education requirement consists of 6 subject-related and 3 Western medical (WM) days. However, for registering the WM days from the continuing education requirement, you may use the WM days from your additional training.
Below you will find some examples of additional training and continuing education.
Newly Graduated
You are coming directly from the acupuncture training and will become a practicing member as of January 1, 2023; your postgraduate period will then begin on June 1, 2023, and run until June 1, 2026. During that period, you must attend 6 days of professional development training, in addition to the refresher program. You do not need to attend the 3 days of WM training separately, but you can include them by attending 5 days of WM-B and an additional 7.5 days of WM-C. In total, you will attend for almost 4 years: 6 + 5 + 7.5 = 18.5 days. Additionally, you can carry over 3 days of WM to the period 2026-2029. In that next period, you will only need to attend 6 days of professional training again.
You are already working as an acupuncturist
You are switching from another association and have more than 5 years of work experience (of which the last two years have averaged at least 312 patient contact hours per year); you will become a member on January 1, 2023; your further education period will then begin on June 1, 2023, and will run until June 1, 2026. During that period, you must attend 6 days of professional further education, in addition to the refresher program. You do not need to attend the 3 days of WM further education separately, but you can fill it in by attending 5 days of WM-B. In total, you will attend 11 days in almost 4 years: 6 + 5 = 11 days. Additionally, you can carry over 3 days of WM to the period 2026-2029. In that next period, you will need to attend 6 days of professional further education again.
Example 1 and example 2 are the two extreme examples
If you switch and have less than 5 years of work experience, the number of days to be followed in the first period is between 11 and 18 days, of which you can take 3 days as WM days to the next period. In addition, there is always an obligation for 6 days of professional training per period.
