Fear and trauma can be hereditary
25-03-2019
Did you know that parents can genetically pass on certain anxious memories to their children?
American researchers demonstrated this in a study with mice in 2013. Scientists trained mice to be afraid of a scent that resembled cherries. Male animals received small electric shocks in a room where they smelled the air. Over time, they associated the substance so strongly with pain that they trembled even without electric shocks when they smelled it.
The offspring of these mice were also found to be fearful of the scent, even without prior exposure to it. Even the third generation was found to be oversensitive to the cherry scent. Previous studies have shown that experiences of parents can influence the genes of their children.
How Anxiety and Trauma Manifest in Family Lines*
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), there are eight extraordinary meridians (energy pathways) known to contain the energy inherited from your parents. The most important of these, the Chong Mai, ensures the union of the mother's egg and the father's sperm. It is the initial life energy, the Jing, that forms a new life.
The Chong Mai is our blueprint, our DNA, our destiny, and the connection to our ancestors. Through the Jing, the transfer of strengths and weaknesses occurs from one generation to the next.
The Chong Mai is most active during the embryonic phase and in the first life cycle of 7 to 8 years. The influences experienced as a child in your family, culture, and life circumstances greatly shape your future behavior. Beliefs from TCM surprisingly align well with the findings of modern research.
Acupuncture Helps with Anxiety and Trauma Symptoms
Do you often worry? Do you suffer from a constant stream of thoughts or a lack of self-confidence? Certain acupuncture points have been shown to positively influence specific areas in your brain, reducing nervousness and sensitivity to pain and stress while promoting relaxation. Strengthening the Chong Mai with acupuncture can help you connect more with your authentic self. This can be very helpful in identity crises and in processing trauma.
Acupuncture - Natural and Safe
Acupuncture is a natural and safe way to reduce your anxiety symptoms. It is painless and has no side effects. An acupuncturist works on the belief that physical and mental complaints arise from a disruption in your energy balance. During the treatment, very thin needles are placed at specific points on your body. This helps regulate your energy flow and restore balance to your energy system.
