Ichelle van Doorn
For the Acupuncture Week, we asked our members to share their most original tip to help clients find balance.
Sometimes wisdom lies in simplicity. Ichelle managed to capture that beautifully with her submission. With a quiet moment on the couch and a cup of tea, she shows that balance doesn't always come from action, but rather from allowing oneself to rest.
In her text, she reminds us of the principle of wu wei (effortless action), a core concept in Chinese philosophy that invites us not to force, but to flow with what is.
For her clear and recognizable depiction of this message, Ichelle van Doorn receives the second prize: a €100 voucher for acupuncture supplies of choice.
Submission by Ichelle:
You might be thinking, 'what should I do to restore my mental, emotional, and physical balance?' Stop, you are actually allowed to not do. In Chinese medicine, we call this wu wei: effortless action. You can stop doing everything you think you should, stop forcing and controlling. Surrender, return to that place of silence, and see what emerges from there. Sometimes it's peace, sometimes a cup of tea, sometimes reading, sometimes tidying up, sometimes moving. But one thing is certain: do not go beyond your own limits unnaturally - and certainly not too often.
