Anxiety
Research shows that acupuncture is comparable in effectiveness to talk therapy for anxiety complaints and is often more effective than medication. According to the guidelines of the Dutch College of General Practitioners, a general practitioner will use psychological interventions and antidepressants for persistent anxiety complaints that also impair social functioning. Acupuncture can be safely and effectively used alongside, for example, cognitive therapy and medication.
