Photo series Animals and acupuncture

Photo editor Frank Schallmaier from De Volkskrant collected photos of pets and zoo animals undergoing acupuncture treatment. De Volkskrant published these in the photo series The Schallmaier Index on October 13.
It yields a series of endearing and funny photos from the US, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Spain, Singapore, and Thailand. We see, among other things, a tiger with a chronic ear infection, a dachshund with a hernia, an anxious cat, and a wounded turtle with a poor appetite. 'Judging by the look in their eyes, the animals seem to find the treatment completely normal,' the text next to the photos says.
Acupuncture Helps!
You sometimes hear skeptics say that you have to 'believe in it'. That argument certainly does not apply to animals. Nor does it apply to babies and young children, by the way.
That makes this photo series not only endearing or funny, but also meaningful. Acupuncture helps!
