My name is Sofie Plantema. In 2005 I graduated as a physiotherapist at 'Thim van der Laan' in Nieuwengein. After that, I immediately started working in a physiotherapy practice. Over the years, I have specialized in orthopedic complaints with expertise in knee problems. I have collaborated extensively and closely with experienced orthopedists and fellow physiotherapists from the region. Despite always having done this challenging work with a lot of pleasure, I wanted more.

Oriental medicine has been instilled in me from a young age because my mother was also an acupuncturist. She influenced our family, and me in particular, from a young age with these wisdoms and ancient knowledge. She was visibly captivated by this and her enthusiasm and passion were contagious. Additionally, I saw in practice the results she achieved with patients. I wanted that too!

Therefore, in 2021 I completed the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) study at 'OTCG' in Antwerp. Subsequently, I started as an independent acupuncturist. For two years, I combined physiotherapy with my own acupuncture practice, but in 2024 I bid farewell to the physiotherapy profession definitively. Nevertheless, I have gained almost 20 years of experience in the Western medical world. I bring this wealth of knowledge into my own practice and use it daily. Now I can effectively combine Western and Eastern Medicine.

I am convinced that precisely the combination of Western and Eastern medicine can complement and strengthen each other. One does not exclude the other!
I still enjoy working with patients every day! Incredibly enriching and rewarding work.
