Detoxing the Chinese way
Posted on 09/01/2020 in Current Affairs
At the beginning of the year, everyone feels like working on their fitness. The gyms fill up. So, it's time for a good detox! Fortunately, you don't have to deprive yourself of all food for a week. The TCG provides simple and easily applicable tips for detoxing at home responsibly so that you feel fit and energetic again.
Modern Detox: Cold and Meager
The modern way of detoxing is rather one-sided, focusing on purifying the body. By avoiding solid food and only drinking juices, you stimulate the body to eliminate toxins. However, the juices are usually cold, and cold is the recipe in spring to lower your resistance instead of increasing it. Severe fatigue or a bad flu are then lurking around the corner. The likelihood of these unpleasant ailments is increased because modern detox programs do little to build up your energy.
TCG detox, warm and energetic
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, detoxing is viewed differently: it's not just about detoxifying, but also about building up energy and getting that energy moving (circulation) which is crucial. That's why we recommend a so-called constructive detox program: on one hand, you cleanse your body, on the other hand, gentle nutrition ensures that the energy is built up and set in motion.
Cleansing the body is done, among other things, with diuretic foods and foods that support liver function. Building energy is done with warming foods. Sharp foods help restore energy circulation. Leave those cold juices and smoothies aside until it gets much warmer.
