Have you ever suffered from heartburn? An idiotic name perhaps but probably recognizable. People who experience heartburn after a meal will certainly recognize it. Funny that the Chinese names for diseases are so picturesque. For example, people who have a hangover in China have fog in their head. They can no longer think clearly due to the alcohol from the day before and move slowly, as if they are groping their way through a dense fog. The term heartburn, symbolizing burning stomach acid, is just as recognizable.
Nutrition
You probably already know that it is wise to drink less coffee and eat less fat or spicy food when you have heartburn. In China, all of this is considered yang food and yang promotes fire. However, there are more foods that strengthen stomach acid.
You should also avoid the following products: fresh ginger, garlic, cinnamon, pepper, anise, dill, dates, leeks, onions, ham, chicken, and fatty fish species such as mackerel.
What should you eat best?
Yin foods extinguish stomach acid due to their cooling nature. So you should eat these more often. Think of tomato juice, watermelon, strawberries, berries, pear, raw or lightly cooked vegetables, cucumber, lettuce, beets, bean sprouts.
Acupressure
To ensure that your stomach is less likely to be upset, it is wise to massage a few acupuncture points every day. These points may be massaged for two minutes daily.
Spleen 2
This point is located on the side of the foot, just above the attachment of the big toe.
stomach 44
This point is located between the second and third toe, on the webbing.
Renmo 12
This point can be found on the abdomen. Place your hand flat above the navel. The point is located above your thumb, on the line
between the navel and the sternum. This point provides quite direct relief.
large intestine 4 or hegu
This last point is the most well-known point in TCM and is located on the hand. You can find it on the back of the hand, just before the convergence of the metacarpal bones of the thumb and index finger.
