Praktijk voor Acupunctuur Ilse Tomassen

My name is Ilse Tomassen. After completing my education as a physiotherapist (1990), I gained years of experience in, among others, the Slingeland Hospital, various practices, and the Klimmendaal rehabilitation center in the Child & Youth department. Through a colleague, I came into contact with Traditional Chinese Medicine and became so fascinated that I decided to delve into it. In 1995, I obtained my acupuncture diploma from the European University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

From 2001, I focused entirely on acupuncture. What fascinates me about Traditional Chinese Medicine is that it looks at the functioning of the whole person. You are truly engaged with the individual and their well-being. In China, it is said that acupuncture treats the sick person rather than the disease. I also find it important in the treatment process to become aware of the causes of symptoms and to prevent future complaints.

Through further education, I have deepened my knowledge in areas such as oncology, fertility/infertility, pregnancy, menstrual and menopausal symptoms, and headaches, but I can also help with other complaints.

I collaborate closely with various general practitioners, physiotherapists, midwives, the integrative medicine department of the oncology unit at Rijnstate Hospital, and I am involved in a multidisciplinary headache clinic.
