The quality of an NVA acupuncturist
Education
An NVA acupuncturist is trained at HBO level and has a solid knowledge of both Chinese and Western medicine. This is not only important to assess your health properly but also to potentially consult with your (family) doctor.
Internship and Continuing Education
During and after studying acupuncture, the aspiring acupuncturist interns with experienced colleagues. Once registered as an NVA acupuncturist, knowledge is maintained through mandatory continuing education in both medical and professional fields.
Quality
An NVA acupuncturist must adhere to clear regulations. Think of rules regarding practice management, hygiene, sterility and safety, ethics, and privacy. The quality in NVA practices is actively monitored through practice visits.
Complaints Procedure
The NVA has a complaints procedure, is affiliated with the Dispute Resolution Foundation Zorggeschil, and has a Disciplinary Board.
In short, with an NVA acupuncturist, you are in good hands!
Are you looking for an acupuncturist?
Make sure that your acupuncturist is personally a member of the Dutch Acupuncture Association (NVA).
In a practice with multiple acupuncturists, there may be confusion about this, which could result in you missing out on the (partial) reimbursement from your health insurer.
You can verify your acupuncturist's personal membership with a search in the 'Find an Acupuncturist' section at the top of each page.
