My name is Dick van der Poel. After working exclusively as a physiotherapist for eleven years, I clearly missed something in my approach and treatment of my patients. The choice to study acupuncture in 2000 was a logical extension of my profession in healthcare. After all, I am now able to approach the human being in a more holistic way, which improves the quality of my treatment because the patient is treated more in its entirety.

The strength of acupuncture for me lies in the fact that the treatment has an effect on both the physical and psycho-emotional level. For example, pain is experienced differently by everyone. Acupuncture can have a direct pain-relieving effect and can also enable the patient to experience the pain less intensely because he will 'feel better' through the same acupuncture treatment.

In my work, I combine acupuncture treatment with physiotherapy treatment where possible and necessary, much to the delight of my patients.

Thanks to my experiences, accumulated knowledge, and many further education courses in the past sixteen years as an acupuncturist, I know that my strength lies in helping people, which gives me satisfaction. My specialization lies in treating psycho-emotional complaints, such as those occurring in depression, stress, burnout, anxiety, and general fatigue. Furthermore, I frequently apply acupuncture in pain syndromes such as back and sciatic pain, migraine, and headaches. But of course, you can also come to me for the treatment of digestive complaints, reduced fertility, pregnancy, menstrual, and menopausal complaints.

Currently, I work at De Praktijk, at The Right Move location at Walserij 72 and at Kerkstraat 105C in Noordwijkerhout.
