I chose the acupuncture course because I noticed that in the regular medical education insufficient attention was paid to the holistic view of humanity. Disease can be solved in a different way than with (suppressive) medication. It feels good that I can help clients in a substantial way.

My strength is my intuition. From the different layers of knowledge, something emerges that may be important for the treatment. This can be the placement of the needles, but also dietary or lifestyle advice. I also use conventional medical knowledge for this.

I have a medical background and graduated in 1993. Until 2009, I worked as a regular doctor in the military, as an occupational health physician, in mental health care, and as a doctor for asylum seekers. During that time, I completed the specialization in social and public health. In the late 90s, I completed the acupuncture training and started as an acupuncturist in 2001. At first, one half-day a week. The practice became busier and I now work (almost) full-time, both in Zwolle and Hoogeveen. In addition to traditional Chinese acupuncture, I also work with ear acupuncture and interference field therapy according to Bahr.
