Een kwestie van beweging
Week van de acupunctuur

A few years ago, I ended up with acupuncture, that's about 5 to 6 years ago now. Not long before that, I had separated from my partner, which led me to do a lot of sports, boot camping. I can say too much. I was quite angry. Due to excessive sports, I started to exhaust my own body. The result was that I hurt my back. First, I ended up with the chiropractor, he straightened my back. But more importantly; he indicated that I had to stop all that sports. First, I had to make sure to get my energy level up. A friend of mine said: "Do you know what you should do? Go to acupuncture, then you'll be reset." That's how I ended up with my acupuncturist.
No energy
During the start of my treatments, I was still boot camping. But my acupuncturist also urgently advised me to stop. She said: "You're demanding too much of your body, it drains your body, you have no more energy. You're getting older and it can't go on like this." From then on, I immediately changed everything. Within 3 months, I stopped boot camping and started practicing yoga enthusiastically.
At the beginning, I dragged myself from appointment to appointment with my acupuncturist. I was empty and depleted. I was really waiting to go back to her. At the beginning, I also went more often, the appointments came closer together. Now it's different. Now it's like; oh nice, I get to go again. I really think that only now I realize how empty I was back then. I now go about once every 4 to 6 weeks.
Acupuncture and herbs
Meanwhile, acupuncture helps me with several complaints in addition to my energy level. I have, among other things, Gilbert's Syndrome (liver condition), hay fever symptoms, and complaints for and around menopause. For my complaints, we use acupuncture and herbal (pills). First pills to support my energy (levels) and I am now on my third type of pills: 'Easy Journey'. These are focused on menopause and support in this. I also received tips on nutrition. For example, about nuts, oat and soy milk.
Back in my body
The treatments have made a huge difference. Especially peace of mind. Maybe it also has a bit to do with age, the older, the calmer. In any case, for me. I'm in my head a lot, I have a demanding job and I'm a go-getter. You forget about yourself at that moment and you keep going. Acupuncture helps me to come back into my body and directs my energy channels. Not everyone is spiritually inclined, but I feel the energy and calm flowing back. At first, I had no energy left, until everything started working, now I have some left.
The pressure is off
My treatments are always very pleasant. My acupuncturist is always very clear. That's what I like. I immediately feel a change in the body; the pressure is off. Sometimes there are points that give a kind of energy boost through the body. They can be intense, but then I immediately notice the effect. Some points also extend all the way through my body, to other parts. Through these feelings, I come back into my body.
When I have a lot of hay fever, my sinuses are blocked. When she pricks me there, it immediately opens up, my lungs also open up immediately. I used to be voiceless for a week twice a year. Since acupuncture, I haven't had that at all. Due to mucus formation, sometimes for 1 day. I also used nasal spray when the pressure was too high. But now I use it much less.
Regarding menopause-related complaints, it feels like I'm a bit at the end of the tunnel. I used to have severe mood swings, they are gone now. Hot flashes are particularly difficult, they disrupt my sleep. This then affects my energy. For these complaints, I don't use anything from regular care, it's so manageable.
Wave motion
What I want to convey to other people about acupuncture is that it helps! Always! I don't have shares, but I am a fan. I never go for nothing. When I'm there, I feel what she's doing. I have referred many people. Especially for chronic complaints, it's fantastic. For a broken leg, you might be better off somewhere else.
It's always about what's going on now. Acupuncture is actually like a wave motion. Sometimes this helps, other times that helps. It's constantly moving. Sometimes I'm a hedgehog with many needles, other times only a few are used. There are no standard treatments. It's an ongoing process that works in the moment. Be honest and stay in communication with your acupuncturist. That keeps the wave motion going and that way it keeps working.
Choose an acupuncturist that suits you. You have to feel comfortable with it, then you're open to it and then it works!
