Acupuncture: also for students!
The student life is nowadays a stressful existence. Firstly, there is the increased performance pressure at universities. Secondly, many students are afraid of accumulating debts. That's why they often have part-time jobs and little time for relaxation. And thirdly: through Instagram, they show the outside world how well they are doing. But the pressure of studying, working, and presenting yourself well on social media causes a lot of stress.
The first symptoms are fatigue, feeling overwhelmed, eczema, headaches, and stomach complaints. If the student does not make adjustments to their lifestyle, a burnout is imminent. With simple tips from Traditional Chinese Medicine, you can quickly feel happier, fitter, and more energetic. By doing this in time, you prevent your fatigue symptoms from getting worse! On the website of the NVA, you will find instructions on how to massage acupuncture points yourself to relax and support your energy.
Nutrition
Proper nutrition can also be supportive in case of fatigue. Most people think they need to eat more yang (= stimulating) foods. So, in simple terms: eat more peppers to get some spice. However, it is very important to also build up the underlying basic energy. That's why the Chinese often consume both yin (= nourishing) and stimulating foods when feeling tired.
- To strengthen your basic energy (yin), you can eat the following: rice, egg, cheese, beans, stews, mashed potatoes, crab, shrimp, honey, and mango.
- To reduce your fatigue, suitable foods include: tofu, boiled potatoes, chicken, stewed meat, pork chops, eel, mackerel, and cashews.
- To feel more energetic (yang), it is wise to eat: walnuts, chestnuts, and fennel. Note: do not eat nuts right before bedtime; they inhibit sleep. If you really need to pull an all-nighter to study, then nuts are excellent! But don't do it too often...
It is best to use as little raw vegetables as possible. Cook or stir-fry the vegetables and optionally add some coconut milk.
Sometimes the fatigue or stress is already too great to reduce on your own. In that case, it is advisable to consult an NVA acupuncturist.
