Let me introduce myself...

My name is Yvonne Martens and since 2022 I have been working as an independent acupuncturist at Yvonne Martens - Acupuncture in Sittard. In addition to acupuncture, I am also a massage therapist, specialized in Tui Na and energetic massage. I also teach acupressure and therapeutic massage techniques to aspiring therapists at the Therapeutic Training Center Kersten in Maastricht.

In 2023, I completed the advanced training in herbal formulas for TCM therapists, and since January 2025, I have also specialized in oncology acupuncture. Furthermore, in my treatments, I use ear acupuncture, Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture (YNSA), and TCM nutrition.

My experience goes beyond just complementary medicine: I have a broad background in mainstream healthcare. I started my career as a nurse and until recently, I was a manager of various treatment centers and clinics, including in the justice, mental health, and intellectual disability sectors.

With a background in two cultures (Indonesian/Moluccan), I have been fascinated by the interaction between Western and non-Western approaches to health and disease from a young age. After completing my nursing education, I decided to study medical-demographic anthropology (Ethnology) at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. My curiosity continues to grow, and I plan to further deepen my knowledge in the future.
