Join with an MBK diploma

To be admitted to the NVA with a diploma in MBK of 40+ ECTS, one must follow a refresher program to still meet the (minimum) NVA requirements regarding the medical background. You will have plenty of time for this refresher: the entire first (postgraduate) registration period of 3 years, which starts on June 1 after the commencement date of the practicing membership.

The continuing education program consists of two parts:

Part 1 (WM-B): Additional knowledge of Western medical basics: anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology and their application within regular medical practice.

Part 2 (WM-C): Professional support skills such as therapeutic skills, ethics, and communication within regular care.

How many days of further education?
Those admitted with a 40+MBK diploma must attend 5 WM-B days.
The number of required WM-C days is a maximum of 7.5 and depends on work experience. That may sound like a lot, but it's not too bad. Read below to understand how it works.

Counting Double for Six Days
A part of these WM-B and WM-C days simply count towards the mandatory WM refresher training, as is the case for all NVA members. In the first registration period of the Practicing Membership, 3 days are registered for this purpose, and 3 days can be carried over to the next period. So, as a practicing member, you must definitely complete 6 WM days.
Additionally, in each 3-year registration period, 6 subject-specific days must be attended. Compared to other professional associations, the NVA has a relatively light refresher training obligation. And what do you know? Our profession encourages you to continue delving into the subject matter; continuing education remains enjoyable!

What are these days, WM-B and WM-C?
These are currently offered by TCM Academy Netherlands (TCMA), Qing-Bai Academy, and Shenzhou Open University of TCM. Other training providers are also invited to offer these days.
There are more days in preparation, but take a look below at the current continuing education offerings.
