Acupunctuurpraktijk Sanderijn Janssen
I am Sanderijn Janssen and I am trained as a general practitioner, graduating in 2000. I worked as a general practitioner for eleven years. Currently, I work as a doctor in a facility for children with developmental issues. Additionally, I now work as a doctor-acupuncturist in my own practice.
During my medical studies, I became interested in other (holistic) healing methods. I became a member of the Working Group on Integration of Healing Methods (WIG). This interest remained after my graduation. Throughout my career as a general practitioner, I frequently encountered the limitations of our Western way of thinking.
Especially when it comes to chronic (pain) complaints, I experienced these limitations. Although I learned a lot during my medical studies and also during my general practitioner training, I increasingly realized that there is still so much we do not know, so many complaints we cannot resolve. So many conditions we cannot cure. Think of conditions such as rheumatism, fibromyalgia, chronic pain complaints, hernias, numerous neurological and psychosomatic conditions, psychiatric illnesses, etc. As a general practitioner, and also as a medical specialist, you often find yourself at a loss. This made me think and I resumed my search for solutions for my patients.
In 2016, I decided to follow my heart and study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the prestigious Qing Bai Academy. I continued working as a doctor. In 2019, I graduated as a doctor-acupuncturist. In 2020, I completed the training to become a tuina therapist.
My strength lies in my holistic, broad vision. As a doctor and as an acupuncturist. A physical or psychological complaint does not exist in isolation. It is important to search for the deeper cause of the complaint, for the imbalance that manifests in a complaint or illness, and to address it. It is a way of looking, of healing that does much more justice to the individual. Because every person is unique and therefore requires a unique approach/treatment. Additionally, I find the preventive aspect, thus preventing the onset of diseases, particularly relevant. The philosophy of TCM excels in this aspect.
Due to my knowledge of Western medicine, I can provide you with good advice regarding your complaint and the use of medications, and refer you back to your general practitioner or specialist if necessary. Additionally, if needed and desired, I can contact your general practitioner or specialist for consultation or advice.
“My motivation: to unite the best of two worlds: connecting East and West into a complementary medicine.”
