Wim Passed
Why did you choose to become an acupuncturist? What or who inspired you?
A lecture on acupuncture at the physiotherapy course in 1975 was the beginning. I asked the person giving the lecture if he could treat me immediately. He said, 'Come forward.' The reactions were: sweating, almost fainting, feeling hot and cold, and so on. It was enough for me to know that it worked. The rest of the attendees were probably shocked and did not try acupuncture.

What is your most beautiful experience with a patient?
There are too many beautiful experiences to highlight just one. Besides the beautiful experiences with patients, I also find my own development through this profession a very beautiful experience.
What are you still amazed by in your profession?
About its greatness. The totality, the whole. Acupuncture is a concept, a profession that has to do with the entire cosmos.
Is there something in your practice that embodies the essence of Traditional Chinese Medicine for you?
Chinese medicine is in everything. In the past, I used to think in terms of objects, but each object falls short of representing the profession as a whole. I see the essence in the people who come to my practice for treatment and continually transform.
