My name is Jan Willem de Bruijn. In 1987, I graduated from the Deventer Academy for Physiotherapy. As a physiotherapist, I worked in primary care practices, hospital, care, and nursing facilities. In 1989, I worked as a physiotherapist in a hospital in Singapore and came into contact with Eastern healing methods. From that moment on, my interest in acupuncture and Eastern movement therapy in combination with Western practice grew. In 1995, I completed the acupuncture training at the Anglo-Dutch Institute for Oriental Medicine in Haarlem and started my own acupuncture, movement, and pain therapy practice alongside my work as a physiotherapist. Furthermore, in 2007, I obtained my Master's degree in Health Sciences with a specialization in Movement Sciences from Maastricht University. Since 2005, I have been working full-time as the owner of Practice de Bruijn - AcupunctureNijmegen.NL. Experience in conventional care and science, combined with the knowledge and skills from Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, forms a solid professional foundation for your treatment.

My main areas of interest are research into complementary (mostly Eastern) treatment techniques and research into the role of connective tissue in pain perception and consciousness. The research results in this field are of great importance for acupuncture, movement, and pain therapy.
